Mary Rita (Hunter) Dooley Seifert, 93, passed away on June 12, 2018 in Hiawatha, Kansas, where she has resided for two years.

Mary Rita was born October 6, 1924 to the late James Albert and Magdalen (Wiegand) Hunter, in Lemont, Illinois. She attended St. Alphonsus Catholic School, Lemont Township High School, and graduated from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.

Mary Rita Hunter and Arthur Leo Dooley were united in marriage on September 17, 1949 at St. Alphonsus Church in Lemont, Illinois. Having lived in Chicago for ten years, the couple moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in June 1959 with their five daughters. After 41 years of marriage, Arthur preceded Mary Rita in death on March 26, 1990. Fifteen years later, Mary Rita married Dr. Charles Seifert on May 14, 2005 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Charles preceded her in death on February 21, 2015.

A gifted seamstress and exquisite baker, Mary Rita shared her talents with many neighbors, friends, and church members. Her kringle coffeecakes were well known and enjoyed by many. Mary Rita was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and active in the Mother of Good Counsel, provided volunteer services for funeral receptions, and participated in The Missions Quilting Club. Additionally, she was a member of St. Ann’s Christian Mother Society, the Third Order of St. Francis, and the Illinois Historical Society.

Survivors include her 3 daughters – Mary K (Dwayne) Dooley-Owen of Champaign, IL, Noreen (Tom) Gaubatz of Rock Hill, SC, and Eileen (Dean) Montgomery of Effingham, KS; 6 grandchildren – Aileen (Kevin) Swan of Madison, WI, Matthew (Laura) Owen of Sadorus, IL, Rhiannon (KC) Mack of Rock Hill, SC, Breanna Gaubatz of Lexington, KY, Alanna Gaubatz of Denver, CO, and Cole Montgomery of Effingham, KS; 5 great grandchildren – Devon Lee, Gabriel Lee, Grace Swan, Ryan Owen, and Kaylin Owen; and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Oesterreich of Lockport, IL, and Syneta Olson of Lemont, IL. Mary Rita is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mary Rita was preceded in death by her parents; 3 daughters – Deborah Ann, Rita Marie, and Colleen Marie; 1 sister – Gertrude Hunter; 7 brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at 9am on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Gerharz-Cappetta Funeral Home in Lemont, Illinois. A rosary will be recited at 9:30am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Rita will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, June 18, 2018 at St. Alphonsus Church, Lemont, Illinois. Father Brian Ardagh will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Lemont, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary Rita’s name for St. Ann’s Parish in Hiawatha, Kansas, in appreciation for their spiritual support.

The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home in Atchison, Kansas, and the Gerharz-Cappetta Funeral Home in Lemont, Illinois, are assisting the family.

Leslie Przybylski (nee Kerwin), age 70, at rest June 2, 2018 in LaGrange, IL., formerly of Lemont and Palatine. She attended Ss. Cyril & Methodius grammar school,Mt. Assisi Academy in Lemont and Mundelein College. Mrs. Przybylski was a retired Palatine postal worker. Beloved mother of Michael (Mary) and Ronald; loving grandmother of Mia, Milana and Maribella.
